Born in 1917, Roger matured as a professional artist in California in the early 1940s.

As a watercolor painter, Roger immersed himself in the California Watercolor Style and counted Phil Dike, Rex Brandt, Dan Lutz and Millard Sheets as friends and colleagues.

As a cartoonist, he is recognized as one of the greatest in America, having worked at Walt Disney Studios and for many years producing a number of nationally syndicated comic strips.

As a teacher, he refused to follow his fellow artists who were mesmerized by Abstract Expressionism. By the 1960's, an entire generation of artists, art students and art schools had abandoned representational art entirely. By contrast, Roger quietly kept the faith and taught his students to draw, to paint objectively and to learn from nature.  Roger has never wavered. And today at 89 years of age he is still painting and teaching.

The years have affirmed Roger's tenacious artistic convictions, and for that, he has the respect and esteem of today's generation of artists.
